The revenge of Blurb! It’s a one stop-shop for everything that ails you! Sand in your shorts? Blurb! Too hot outside? Blurb! Thirsty? Well, you should really drink some water. But afterwards, BLURB!
Reminds me of the tale of the Lady Be Good pilots. A bunch of American fighter pilots were based in Northern Libya in WWII, and after a failed attack on Sicily, a squadron of nine of them accidentally overshot their base by several hundred kilometres. Eventually their planes ran out of fuel, and they parachuted – right into the Sahara. No water for over two hundred miles.
Of course, they all died pretty quickly. They managed to last a week with minimal water and food, trekking ever northward toward where they thought the base was, surely just over the next dune… or the next… or the…
One of them managed to get all the way to the edge of a sea of dunes. It must’ve been somewhat disheartening to come all that way and then see nothing but sand all the way to the horizon – I mean, his bones were found over a decade later right at the bottom of a high dune where he would’ve beheld the sea of sand.
